HOME OF COAST SPORTING GREATS GETS A MAKEOVER
THE Gold Coast Sporting Hall of Fame is being given a new lease on life thanks to renovations being undertaken by the Gold Coast City Council.
The renovations, that began in early March, are expected to be completed in June and will include a complete repaint, timber maintenance, deck replacement and general cleaning.
Workers, who have been employed particularly for the Owen Park renovations project, will be on site on weekdays and are enjoying spending time working on the stately Old Queenslander.
They will also be undertaking maintenance work on other buildings in the Owen Park precinct.
The building was formerly located on High Street, Southport and was relocated to its current home, Owen Park, by Councillor Dawn Crichlow and the Gold Coast City Council.
The Gold Coast Sporting Hall of Fame is Queensland's first dedicated sports museum and strives to protect and promote the sporting heritage of the Gold Coast.
The Hall offers a unique journey through time for sports enthusiasts and can be enjoyed free of charge on weekdays between 9.00am and 4.00pm.
The Gold Coast Sporting Hall of Fame is situated on Mick Veivers Way, Owen Park, 201 Queen Street, Southport.
