CITATION – PETER MCGRATH

Awarded for contribution to Junior Rugby League.

Peter’s involvement with Junior Rugby League extends back to 1995 when he became a Committee member of Runaway Bay Junior Rugby League Club.  A year later he became President and served 6 years in that role.

Peter became Chairman of Gold Coast Junior Rugby League in 2003, a position that he held until an unfortunate stroke in 2012.  In that time, Junior Rugby League on the Gold Coast grew from around 2,000 players to upwards of 5,000.

The Gold Coast is now an integral part of the QRL establishment and much of that has been due to Peter’s long term involvement.

One of Peter’s greatest assets was that he would never let any child miss out on playing the sport that they loved.
